I cant say which category gives you more learning........... but if you doing so many mistakes that results into a failure, it will not give you as many learning......

As important as how to do things , It is also important to know how not to do . Adding a little bit to the questions , Learning not only from our failures ,but also from others is vital . Our lifetime would not be sufficient to make all the mistakes and hence its vital we learn from others too . In business we call them as case studies which could have been either success or failure , the most important why this is done is to learn the lesson from it.

I believe mistakes done in the past make you aware and you prepare well while attempting to do the same thing in future hence you are cautious and attempt to do better and you end up doing best at times.
