BSS (Business Support System) and OSS (Operation Support System), OSS manly focuses on the status of operation while BSS deals with the business interface with end users or customers.
Proper integration between OSS and BSS systems are very important in telecom operations, where business is totally dependent on the operation of the network.

BSS:

Deals with the taking of orders, payment issues, revenues, etc. It supports four processes: product management, order management, revenue management and customer management.

OSS:

Computer systems used by telecommunications service providers to manage their networks (e.g., telephone networks). They support management functions such as network inventory, service provisioning, and network configuration and fault management.

OSS & BSS are two legs which complete E2E Telecom. OSS is nerve system in the system whereas BSS is heart but both system are important and play equally role to generate revenue. Leakage on one leg will be a failure of other. OSS (Operation Support System) will be use for the CORE infrastructure implementation, configuration & operation where as BSS (Business Support System) will be use to support CORE system and apply business logic's to maintain customer, bill customer, accept payment, loyalty & retention etc. Both are very vast and deep areas like ocean.

BSS supports businesses (money, time and effort), while OSS helps to get maximum utlization of organzization resourses (operating).

the OSS typically provides the operator the ability to perform FCAPS (Fault Management, Configuration Management, Accounting Management, Performance Management and Security Management). and focus on maintenance of the network.

OSS vs BSS

OSS (Operations Support System) and BSS (Business Support System) are essential components of a business. Both systems are interdependent and proper integration between both systems should be achieved in order to align the business and operations into a common goal. Proper integration between OSS and BSS systems are critical in telecom operations, where business is totally dependent on the operation of the network. OSS focuses on the status of the operation while, BSS handles the business interfacing with the customer or end user

BSS - dealing with customers, supporting processes such as taking orders, processing bills, and collecting payments. (More Software Oriented.)Of course, BSS and OSS is more complex than that. Usually different companies have different ways of distinguishing what is OSS and what is BSS.

OSS- dealing with the telecom network itself, supporting processes such as maintaining network inventory, provisioning services, configuring network components, and managing faults. (More Hardware Oriented.)

OSS stands for Operation Support Systems. It  refers to the network-centric elements, such as design, configuration, and monitoring; fault management; infrastructure security; and service fulfilment, quality, and assurance.

BSS stands for Base Station Subsystem consists of two parts: BSC & BTS . The BTS and the BSC communicate across the specified Abis interface, enabling operations between components that are made by different suppliers. The radio components of a BSS may consist of four to seven or nine cells. A BSS may have one or more base stations. The BSS uses the Abis interface between the BTS and the BSC. A separate high-speed line (T1 or E1) is then connected from the BSS to the Mobile MSC.
