Careers that actually have an impact on making the world more sustainable.

Jobs that are NOT 'just jobs that a company needs to function,' eg (refer to the answers of this question; Is the long term aim of economists to create a society where scarcity is no more and everyone is satisfied?

The answers to the above question say economists don't really work to create a society where scarcity is less, but they rather 'just work and earn money.')

I want a career where I help the world! High pay! :) Requires person to be very smart!

**I had the conception that economists worked to reduce scarcity and to help the world best use its resources, but the answers from the above reference suggest that economists have a minimalistic task in making change and that governments don't heed the conclusions economists come up with.**

An example would be an emergency doctor; he or she is very qualified to make decisions that could help save people's lives.  This is a great example, however, I'm not too into the medical field and I prefer a non-sciency field.

Each career have different purpose. The person himself must adjust his way or attitude in order to make his contribute for the betterment.

Yes we should make the world a better workplace.  In order to achieve this the top man who are leaders in any organization if possible should appreciate what their employees have done to their organization not to use the stick and the carrots.  Even increase of salary and recognition and rewards all these are short term motivational tools to make employees more productive and a good workplace but it will not last for long.  So to make the world a better workplace the leaders should constantly praise the employees and have frequent dialogues with them and listen to them to make changes so that employees feel the trust and having confidence with their leaders.  Having this system will then organizations in this world will attain a better workplace.

No one can make the world a better place by himself . or even by teaching others how to do .. it is the motivation driven by the magority that can make the masses of people decide whether to go forward or to stay behind

No career can make the world a better place. It is up to you in how you expressed that career. For example,  there are green accountants and there are non-green accountants. And the same could be said about any career. So, the real question is"How do you want to make the world a better place and how can you use a career to achieve that?"
