Meshing is a process of breaking down the real life model in to small pieces known as elements. There by reducing the infinite DOF's to Finite DOF's. Calculations are done on nodes connecting the elements.

Meshing is carried out to minimize the degrees of freedom of a model to finite number for the analysis of the model. Calculations are only made in these finite number of nodes and the results are interpolated to the entire model.
