When dealing with customers, some say: "Be wise Not smart" What does that mean to you?

to be more attentive to customers & do the needful what customers required

One of the ways to look at this statement would be from a philosophical perspective:

"Smartness is by nature an external trait of a human being which is bound by environmental factors hence bound to fail. Wisdom by nature is an internal human trait which is free of environmental influences hence bound to grow."

Smartness: This can be defined as a trait that is self endorsed in most of the cases and conferred upon to us by our colleagues as a way of boosting our ego. It is a good feeling but in most cases prone to fail due to human arrogance. A man who considers him self succeeds in life but falls on his face due to the by default build up of arrogance that comes along with it.   

Wise: Being wise may sound similar to being smart but in reality they are two opposites. Being wise is being down to earth or non-egoistic as a human which in turn will ensure the human to be attain wisdom or pure knowledge which is not bound by human emotions such as ego, anger, anxiety, love etc.

It simply means be intelligent but low profile. As wise is related to wisdom which in most cases the customer will appreciate, smart on the other hand is leaning towards proud, loud and aggressive which most customers will avoid.

being wise is to emphatize. Put yourself in a customer shoes and know what they want.

Being wise is the ultimate goal for smart people to reach and achieve.wise people see the complete picture and act accordingly having the customer satisfaction at one side and organizational objectives that must be met at the other without compromising either.

i believe most smart people are not wise but I believe most wise people are smart.

Be Wise means don't be pushy about the product you are selling to the customer,Explain the benefit of the product he wants than being pompus about product..

Wise has more ethical of sense rather than smart because smart sometimes may lead into cunning ways. Wise is smart on decent ways.
