Positive discipline focuses on encouragement over praise. It involves creation of an atmosphere in the organisation through rewards, appreciation, incentive payment, promotion, constructive support etc. to motivate employees to work willingly to accomplish the set goals.

 

Negative discipline, employees are forced to obey orders and abide by rules and regulations that have been laid down, failing which penalties and punishment would be imposed on them.

Positive discipline are correcting deficiencies without invoking any kind of punishments and of constructive in nature. Its purpose is to change the habits as per the requirements of the organization and adopting to the culture, tradition and values of the organization. These are willingly accepted by the employees along with the signing of the job offer to voluntarily adhere to the disciplinary policies required for their job position. These are all a set of standards prescribed for personal development, career growth, talent development and precondition for training requirements to achieve and maintain a standard and ethical values to the organization and targeted in case all employees in General irrespective of class and grades.

 

Negative discipline on the other hand are in form of minor to major punishments when the positive methods are at a failure to achieve the accepted level of standards as prescribed or schedules as a matter of its policies mainly insisted on with the intention of upholding the integrity of the organization among the work force and the public in general. These may constitute suspension of employees, compulsory off, withdrawal of certain benefits, demotion, dismissal  etc and the gravity of such punishments depend upon the character of misconduct/negligence of ethical values. While enforcing Negative disciplinary actions humanitarian grounds also considered to a great extent as error is human, and the family or society or even the country should not suffer on account of bad reputations and very care and thinking along with the prescribed guidelines of the labour law are strictly followed along with legal verdicts under similar circumstances. Main consideration would be that the family of the aggrieved is not far affected.

Positive discipline is where only positive issues/ behavior are considered with the purpose of stimulating these issues. It is like keep highlighting the complements and rewards for positive behavior.

 

Negative discipline when the focus is only on negative behavior and keep talking about punishment and penalties.

Positive Discipline (or PD) is a discipline model used by schools that focuses on the positive points of behaviour, based on the idea that there are no bad children, just good and bad behaviors. You can teach and reinforce the good behaviors while weaning the bad behaviors without hurting the child verbally or physically. People engaging in positive discipline are not ignoring problems. Rather, they are actively involved in helping their child learn how to handle situations more appropriately while remaining calm, friendly and respectful to the children themselves. Positive discipline includes a number of different techniques that, used in combination, can lead to a more effective way to manage groups of students. Some of these are listed below. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a structured, open-ended model that many schools follow. it promotes positive decision making, teaching expectations to students early, and encouraging positive behaviors.[1]
