What are some of the disadvantages of diversity in the workplace?

At a previous company I worked in, diversity was a big deal. Managers failed at communicating with people from different backgrounds. What are the main disadvantages of diversity?

important aspect /problem or we can say opportunity is to cope with the diversity.

this can be easily addressed through making the selection criteria a fool proof one, which can easily done though devising a criteria of recruitment and selection in that way so that to have employees of certain standards which would have the abilities and capabilities to cope with diversity

Remedy Open ( Top/down Down/top Standardize communication ) , Trainings

2. External cultural hazard 

Remedy ( Strengthen the internal organizational culture ) 

3. Conflicts 

Remedy ( Comprehensive Conflict management policy and procedures )

4. Creating Harmony

Remedy ( Transform managers into leaders by training's ) 

5. Workforce alignment

Its all about Human resource optimization of KSA

The Divisiveness of Diversity
  • Diversity in the workplace implies influences other than those that may be cherished by management and supervision. These influences might be racial, ethnic, related to the physical challenges faced by a single worker, or social influences, like language or membership in certain organizations. These group influences can create a sense of "community" among group members--a concept about which even sociologists can't agree, save for the fact that a community must be self-aware. That self-awareness, when it means workers who are "different" might band together into a "community" within the workplace, can lead to a loss of management control in the single-minded pursuit of the company's objectives.

I think being a manager positive attitude should be show in floor or around of employee. Your body language and your seniority show. Diversity happened during ask a question of staff when you have no answer. Any language have defined but positive manner has create positive attitude so be a positive during answer.

I think body language is the king of all languages. Even after learning many languages sometime people fail to communicate. Yes, there are disadvantages with diversity but that is only during initial phases...  as English is globally accepted, the written part is taken care of and the remaining can be managed if one has positive attitude with friendly body gesture.
