Can employees get access to their Annual Confidential Rolls ( ACRs)?

My opion will be .ACRs are secret documents but if the senior officer records an agverse remarks against an employee the same must be communicated to such employee.

ACR's are confidential and is  mostly at the discretion of the Organization

In true sense of Confidentiality, Employee can't get access to ACR but practically it depends on the organization culture

As ACR is prepared by the senior officer and most of the time he discuss that ACR with you / give you a copy of ACR

In some companies, it is also observed that senior officer ask the employee to prepare his ACR and send him for review and further submission.

All this depends on organization culture

 

But in true sense, it should be confidential 

 

1. At the outset, let me clarify that I am not an expert in 'warehouse management'.  Secondly, I am not sure in which context the term ACRs is used, i.e. a) in a warehouse management system,  b) the corporate environment, or c) a government entity perspective.
2.  Considering the general company policy or practice with regard to treating confidential reports; whether it be an employee's annual confidential report, or company's business related confidential reports, employees cannot access any of those reports. However, if the management want to share the confidential report with one or more employees for any reason deemed appropriate by HR, then, it can be accessed by the employee. Otherwise, as a general rule in any management practice, confidential rolls or reports are strictly meant for confidentiality reason- to be accessed by authorized personnel only.

 

It depends on the definition of "confidentiality"in your organization  culture and how it is implemented versus the true need/justification  for sharing this info with the employee !

ACR which means 'Annual Confidential Report' should be confidential as the name itself refers to. But many time it varies from company to company and the law of the land where it is located. And the executives are generally asked to write their own 'self appraisal' and their immediate boss counter signs it. I agree with Mr. Wasi Rahman Shaikh in regard to adverse remarks on the report that employee should be made aware of it. The labour laws in India provides this option.

In my opinion, ACR should be confidential. Only the senior management should have access to such reports and can be discussed with the employee at their discretion.

Employee cannot and should not question the senior management as it creates a divide in organizational functioning.

 

ACR should be confidential, however, depending on the policy of your company, the employee should know..Without any problem or issue between the supervisor and employee ACR is not considered a problem, however it will always depend on company policy.
