Depends on operation system and hardware. If about Windows, nLite is the best solution, imho. It permits to compile the setup installation with all appropriate drivers for given HW, applications and utilities. *nix distributions are very flexible. I prefer Ubuntu or OpenSUSE, which are universal ones for customers (workstations) and FreeBSD for servers.
