How to install language pack on windows XP/ 7 / 8?

Win XP

  1. Click on Start button, then go to Control Panel, click on Regional and Language Option.
  2. Click on  "Languages" tab, then check that box "Install files for complex script and right-to-lift languages (including Thai).
  3. Click on  Apply, then Ok.

Note: It is possible to ask you to insert the language package CD or Win XP BootCD

 

Win7

  1. Click on Start button, then go to Control Panel.
  2. In Category view, click on Clock, Language, and Region link. [+] In Icons view, click on Regional and Language icon, and then go to Keyboards and Languages tab
  3. Click on Install or uninstall display languages under “Region and Language” section or Install/uninstall languages under “Display Language” section”.
  4. In the “Install or uninstall display languages” wizard, click on Install display languages.
  5. Click Browse computer or network to locate and install language packs manually.
  6. Type or browse to the folder that contains the language pack files. The language file must be in .CAB extension, typical named as “lp.cab”. [+] Once selected and if at least one valid language pack (either MUI or LIP) is found, the wizard will list all languages available to install, together with native name, type (MUI or LIP) and size.
  7. Tick the check boxes of all languages that want to be installed. Actually, the check boxes are checked by default, so you should untick and uncheck the check boxes of display languages that don’t want to be installed.
  8. Click on Next button when ready.
  9. Check the radio button for I accept the license terms, then click on Next button.
  10. Wait for the installation to finish, which may take a while.
  11. Once all selected language files is installed successfully, a confirmation screen will be shown. [+] Click Next button.
  12. If you wish to change to new display language, select the desired display language from the list of languages available. Then, click on Change display language button. Optional is whether to also apply the new display language to welcome screen and system accounts.
  13. Else, click on Close button to exit.

 

Win8

 

Method No.1:

  1. Press Win key
  2. In Start Screen write lpksetup
  3. Press enter and follow instructions
  4. After the successful installation, restart and enable the new display language in Control Panel\Clock then Language and Region then Language

 

Method No.2:

  1. Press Win key
  2. In Start Screen, write cmd
  3. Right mouse click over Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  4. Write the following command, Restart afterwards and enable your display language in Control Panel:

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\languagepacks\de-de\lp.cab

 

NOTE1#: You will need to adapt the commands requirements for your specific usage, for instance, if i want to install a pt-PT language pack that is located at c:\users\me\lpacks\pt-PT\lp.cab, the command would be

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\users\me\lpacks\pt-PT\lp.cab

 

NOTE2#: Don’t forget to change your Locale settings also, so you can get the same language everywhere.

In Windows7, you can download languages : USING WINDOWS UPDATE : If you're running an Ultimate or Enterprise edition of Windows, you can download available language packs by using WINDOW UPDATE . Language packs installed using Windows Update provide a fully translated version of Windows dialog boxes, menu items, and help content. 

go to control pannel.

click on regional and language settings

select language

then istall or uninstall
