Thats depends on your needs.

 

You can use whatever ide or text editor to write PHP code, you can do that in Notepad as well.

However, if you looking for an IDE/Editor not only to have php code colored or something but to give you support in code debugging, svn support, ftp support, etc... then you have these options to use like:

  1. Eclipse
  2. NetBeans
  3. Aptana Studio
  4. JEdit
  5. PhpStorm
  6. PhpDesigner

Am using Eclipse with Aptana studio plugin installed.

PHP Designer, notepad++

Dreamweaver is the best . You can download templates for your website and install it in dreamweaver.

Designing part becomes very easy. You just need to concern yourself about the back end . Ive used it for my final year minor project.

Aptana Studio is best but i normally use TEXTPAD
