Which Server Operating system is best for web server? Windows, Linux or Solaris and WHY?

Linux as it is open source more powerful and fast. But it all depends on the actual requirements of concerned company.

All are good, the administrator expertise in securing the operating system and optimizing the software has a bearing on choice.

it depends on the technology that you will be using to design your web application or software and the database that you will be using to store all the records. For example if you are using mysql database then you linux OS server.

The answer is based on what the organizations requires, but I prefer Linux, because it is secure and also fully open source
