As an entrepreneur, I use the SMARTER goal setting system:

S - Specific

M - Measurable

A - Achievable

R - Relevant

E - Exceeding (One goal reached lead to the next goal up)

R - Rewarding (Goals are intrinsically rewarding)

As for the measurement part, one my goals are all written down in this SMARTER format, it's easy for me to measure their achievement and success. I link my goals to my mission in life and I translate them into action steps on my time schedule. I use the following softwares / prgrams to help me do that: Google Calendar / My own personal planner (in excel) / Franklin Covey Planner (The electronic version).
