Smoking deprives the bone marrow of oxygen, and it's tricked into thinking that it needs to boost its production of red blood cells, the carriers of oxygen. The attachment of peroxidants to RBC membranes can result in hemolysis.

RBC hemolysis in smokers was 21.6% higher than in non-smokers (P<0.05).

Cigarette smoke is detrimental to the health of both active and passive smokers.

This happens due to icreased erythropoietin production as a result of hypoxia. Such hypoxia is a result of increase carboxy hemoglobin which does not release oxygen easily to the tissues. Accordingly bone marrow will respond by increasing red cells production

Carbon monoxide is the toxic substance acquired when an individual smokes. Red blood cells has greater affinity to carbon monoxide than oxygen. Furthermore, red blood cells that carry carbon monoxide instead of oxygen will result in ineffective function. With that said, different ogans in our body will be deprived of oxygen or hypoxia. The natural response of our body when it senses low oxygen level is that the brain will signal the bone marrow to produce more red blood cells to deliver sufficient oxygen to the entire body. Thus, resulting to high red blood cell levels in an individual who smokes.

High red blood cells in smokers refer to toxic substances entering circulation makes the proportion of oxygen in the blood and a few of this body is to produce a very large amount of red blood cells to avoid the lack of oxygen in the body .ouhan the smoker finds analyzes of hemoglobin is too high

because instead of oxygen that circulates the brain it changes to carboxyhemoglobin but it is reversible if stop smoking .

smoking leads to hypo-oxygenation .. so the compensation mechanism to increase the red blood cells synthesis .

Because smoking cause hypoxia so that stimulate erythropoietin and lead to high HB and RBCs count to compensate

* HEMOGLOBIN INSIDE THE RBC IS ESSENTIAL FOR BLOOD GASES EXCHANGE SO THE OXYGEN IS CARRY FROM LUNGS TO THE TISSUE AND VIS VERSA THE CO2 IS CARRY FROM THE TISSUE TO THE LUNGS TO EXPELL OUT.

*SMOKER GAIN TO MUTCH CO2 DUE TO CIGRATE SO CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN WILL BE INCREASE AND THIS WILL INTERFER WITH THE ABILITY OF RBC TO CARRY OXYGEN AS RESULT MORE RBC IS PREDUCE.

ACTUALLY WE CAN SAY SMOKER HAVE HIGHER HEMOGLOBIN BECOUSE OF CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN IS INTERFERE WITH MEASUREMENT OF HEMOGLOBIN AS CARBOXYHEMOGLOBIN IS SLOWING  CONVERTING TO CYANOMETHEMOGLOBIN THE STABLE PIGMENT THAT READ CLORIMETRIC OR SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC TO MEASURE THE CONCENTRATION OF HEMOGLOBIN

High red blood cell count may be caused by low oxygen levels, kidney disease or other problems.

Your body may increase red blood cell production to compensate for any condition that results in low oxygen levels, including:

1. A condition present at birth that reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells (hemoglobinopathy)

2. High altitudes

3. Smoking

As someone curious about the health effects of smoking, I've often wondered this question also. Upon researching, I discovered that smoking can lead to increased levels of carbon monoxide in the blood, which can stimulate the production of red blood cells. Concerned about my health, I've been exploring alternatives like IQOS from https://theheatonline.com/product-category/iqos-heets/ to reduce my exposure to harmful chemicals found in traditional cigarettes.
