Thanks for Invitation.

  • Employers place a good weightage on Grade obtained from a reputed University at the entry point of career.
  • Comparatively less weightage is placed while entering at the senior level say after 5 years of service.
  • At the managerial level say after 8 to 10 years of service, grades are  less significant and more weightage is placed on previous achievement  and proven managerial competency

There are three factors that play a key role here; the factors working in consultation and not in isolation.

1. No of years of experience: If the job requires more years of experience, it is mostly that the employer in interested in your past performance, the skills that you have acquired from your previous job, how you have handled different situations in the past and the likes. If the job demands a fresher, your grades do play a key role in your resume getting shortlisted. Post that, it is your performance in the interview where the employer would be more interested in your attitude towards work and life in general.

2. No of candidates appearing for a position: Let's say there are umpteen number of candidates appearing for a position. Your good grades then are the differentiating factor and give you an edge over the other candidates.

3. Institution: Your association with an institute matters even if you have completed 10-15 years in the corporate world. Your grades take a backseat, but your tag name always stays with you. An outstanding student in an outstanding college, will always put you one step ahead of others provided your career graph has always been upwards/stable.

Depending on the level of the vacant position. For entry level jobs that does not require experience, yes they look into grades.

For senior position they usually care about your experience and exposure.

Employers do care about grades. Students shouldn’t think that just because they’ve mounted the admissions hurdle, they can slack off in class. To be sure, many small employers won’t expect to see a GPA on a résumé, but most large companies will. According to a 2013 survey of more than 200 employers by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 67% of companies said they screened candidates by their GPA.

Thanks for invitation,

It depends on the details of "job Description" of the post  itself, i.e when the employer is need a " Research" post for example, I believe that he will be definitely, care and interested to know the college's "grades" of the candidates, especially in their major specialization.

This depends   on what you  bring to the table

  1. For Fresh grads it is important
  2. But if you  seasoned professional grades are not important
