Thx for inviting, such thing I would communicate straight and to the point. It's a matter of respect to the members of the team to let them know that one (or few) of them have to leave, not because of poor performance, but due to restructuring. Not to mention that one (or few) might already have opportunities to leave elsewhere, and they maight leave out of their own will, without needing me to choose who is leaving.

Restructuring is modifying structure of certain company which cause probable elimination of the employees. In this case the role of the team leader will disseminate the decision of the management, and how to do it to the team is the problem. As a team leader I know my team well. I want to keep them all with me but it needs one or some should go for the sake of the company's goal of the restructuring. 1st step is conduct a meeting with the team to explain the plan and  decision of  management and its status of operation. 2nd is to talk the employee who are to exit privately and explain again why. Though it is hurting but accept the reality and back up some possible company to recommend him.

Please inform Team in detail the rationale and background for restructuring  and how it would  help the company to be more competitive in the market. Also inform Team that it is the management decision and would be executed  from such and such date.

It is very  important to inform the Team that who is losing the job  and how management is going to help him to absorb in another position or going to absorb later on subject to creation of post after such and such time. In any case Management shall provide all support to the person who is losing the job. By doing so, the management can buy loyalty of the exiting employees.
