Unlearn may not be the right way of putting it. But yes, as the needs of the organization change, one has to evolve and grow into the person he is intended to be by acquiring needed skills / knowledge / attitudes.

You can replace "unlearn" with "not implement" or "stop doing" and in that case the answer would be "yes".

It is not necessary to "unlearn" things but it is important to know what really works and what is required for growth and do it.

 

One does not have to change himself or his values or principles to grow but may have to change his attitude and approach. No need to change the end but you may change the mean, no need to change the destination but you may change the road.
