Experience is a must for some fields of work. However, there are some jobs which you can gain your experience through practice but you should have the potentials for it.

NO.

Many businesses require experience, for many individuals it’s catch-22.

However, some of the best employees that I hired and worked with were the ones with no experience; especially fresh graduates. They have the basic education, common sense, devotion and energy- these are more essential traits than experience.

Experience is critical there is no way getting around it , the only thing that can counter the experience is competency.Experience is about building political , social and technical skills at workplace , it is about having first hand knowledge of how to solve a particular problem or tackle an issue that you have encountered before in your professional life.it allows you to proactive in anticipating the consequences of various actions and taking measure to avoid negative or damaging consequences.I think the quality of experience is more significant rather than the duration or as we normally see and ask no.of years of experience.

But it is a different story when you say it is experience solely that allows you to be successful in job.No , not at all but "does it give you an edge".Yes it does.

Marianne,

Experience builds social skills and political skills in the workplace, and provides opportunities to apply your education and training in 'real-world' situations. It converts theoretical 'head knowledge' into practical application in your field of interest that produces results--which in turn helps the organization to move forward in a competitive world. Such experience can be voluntary, as well as paid. Please include your volunteer experiences, and well as paid experiences in seeking a position. In the absence of either of these opportunities for experience, you could still show potential as a valuable employee by demonstrating that you have the potential to be a hardworking, creative, and loyal employee by describing evidences/real stories of these qualities in your personal and school life.
