You are setting up remote access on your Cisco IOS switch. What is the purpose of the "login" command when issued in [line vty] configuration mode?
It is used to grant access to the vty lines by using a password.
router(config-line)#line vty 04 (virtual telnet line 0 though 4)
to enable the vty lines so we can access to switch remotly
