Respect for the Chain of Organisation is supreme.
To be construtive and respectful part of the team, follow the superior than competing with him/her for ascendancy, afterall, job satisfaction lies in doing one's job properly.
Actions, afterall speak louder than words, recognition and trust will follow automatically.
Its always better to be a good subordinate counsel and part of the solutions.

If he/she noticed this fact, you would really have hard time, so you better leave the job, if is not noticed and will not affect your performance then try to keep up with him/her The problem is that you will never be advanced in your career if this is the case
