Does "Trump-onomics" really work? Is protectionism the right answer to the "Chinese threat"?

With China and the US agreeing to lift tariffs for the foreseeable future, does this indicate a success in US President's Trump aggressive economic strategy? Or is it truly a concession rather than a victory for the US? What can the world learn from the so-called "trade wars of thest century"?
