Does any one know what the role of an Appointed Person is?
Journeyman Crane Operators are responsible for the crane they operate. They have gone to school, they have many years experience and their number one rule is Safety. They calculate the lift, they instruct all personnel involved on what's going to take place. They appoint a rigger/signal person to help with the lift.
As for the crane itself, they inspect the crane , looking for cracks, worn lift line(s), leaks and general appearance of unit..
So do we really need this person on site, yes we do.
Now there are starting to make course for AP in Qatar, It"s the responsible for making the lifting plan and he doesn"t need to be on site, he can be in the other part of the world, the one incharged on site for lifting and for carrying out the lifting plan is the lifting supervisor.
Crane op. is him self is an responsible person in particular job.
