If you got support on both side ( business and technical staff ) then you become a natural leader and advisor, therefore a valuable CIO for your company and a valuable advisor for the CEO. If the CIO can bring add value for the cnie the contact with main shareholders is therefore to recommend. ( that was my case ). hope its help
