What are the fastest methods for changing the Activities ID in P6?

It can be done through Global change using strings method

Activity ID should not be change. you have to fix the logic from the very beginning. In some urgent case, if you want to change you may use global change option.

I can help if I know how yout want the Activity ID's look like

Activity-ID sequence decision is one among and the first consideration required area before starting with your activity adddition. I would like to suggest a few things  which I felt it to be considered in your future plans .

 

 When you create activity-id always give the first2 or3 places as characters and these should be common through out the project.

eg. say you have2 zones - Z1 & Z3 . Then start it with like this " Z1CO------- " . So when you planned your ID in this manner later on  changing the same or converting same will be easy.  

When you want to change a set of Z1 activities to Z3 . Then its simple select all and go with  the replace option and apply replace it with Z3. So your ID will be changed easily to Z3.

And if you want to copy paste and to create a new section then also its simple . Do the copy paste option select the3 rd option replace the2 characters with Z3. So in this manner you can create a new section easily.

 

You can change anything in one shot in P6 other than the Activity-ID. Because ID option is unique and all your data base options in the program are refered to the ID what you are giving in the program.

Select all the activities and then right click and use "Renumber activity IDs" Command
