LTE uses OFDM as it's technique to provide data and voice to it's users, now the basic advantage of LTE is that it uses SC-FDMA in uplink and OFDMA in downlink which caters to the high average to peak power ratio problem of OFDMA and thus in uplink while using SC-OFDMA we are able to transmit power at a constant rate and save battery life, there are various other factors come into picture for draining the battery such Tranmission antenna system(MIMO), Modulation techniques, Processor of the phone etc. Baterry life of a phone varier from varient to varient and depends on circuitry of the phone as well but there will be mamimum driange if Voice, data and GPS are used altogether, then Voice and data and then Voice.
