the method has advantages and dis-advantages so it differ from company to company
As a quick reply, system validated data is more authentic and fast. But the setup of the system to calculate, evaluate and decide the validation is more relevant and important and any ambiquity or slackness will have adverse effect.
Well, from my own experience, I think automatically validated and entered data is the most beneficial to the top management since it will reduce data entry errors a lot.
