A Software Application Engineer working within Alstom's Trackside Signaling System Specific Application team plays a key role in developing and configuring software that ensures safe and efficient train operations. They work with specialized railway signaling systems that communicate with trains to control speed, movement, and track usage. This role involves adapting and integrating software to meet the unique requirements of each railway project, often in close collaboration with system engineers and project teams. The engineer also performs testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure the software functions reliably in real-world conditions. Their work directly contributes to the safety and performance of rail networks across the globe. This position suits someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working in a highly regulated, safety-critical environment


We'll look to you for:


  • Analyse and understand system requirements for the railway signalling system
  • Decide about technical solutions related to application design/configuration considering applicable internal and external railway rules and regulations.
  • Create and deliver specific application software configuration and documentation in accordance with applicable internal procedures for Configuration and Change Management to secure quality and safety.
  • Continuously improve system knowledge and ways of working in a structured manner.

All about you


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or any other equivalent field or work experience
  • Safety and system related engineering experience.
  • Computer knowledge for example installation of operating systems, drivers and network configuration.
  • Experience of development according to safety standards such as CENELEC (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129) or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with requirements, specifications and documentation of complex technical systems.
  • Language required: Swedish and English.
  • Railway signalling knowledge will be preferred.
