Wood is recruiting a Principal Process Engineer for an immediate start supporting a key client on a Feasibility Study.  Based in Chonburi, Thailand, this role is available as an initial 6-month contract with opportunity to grow into a longer-term assignment, supporting a growing pipeline of work across FEED, EPC, EPCM, PMC.

Reporting to the Head of Discipline, your immediate focus will be supporting a one of key clientele on a Feasibility Study and thrive on the challenge of balancing technical, team, client, and project leadership.


In this highly visible client facing role, your dual focus on relationships and delivery will be essential.  Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Process Engineering portion, while enabling the ongoing growth and development of your team.  You will also work in close partnership with other disciplines and the client to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and asset portfolio.

Expected:


You will be able to work lawfully in Thailand and hold full working rights for this location. 


Suitably qualified with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from a recognised institution, ideally you will have proven experience working in a similar Principal (or Lead) Engineering role, supported by 12+ years of relevant design engineering experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery industry sectors.


In addition, you will:


  • Be recognized as an expert in Process Engineering and have knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering, with experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment. 
  • Be a leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and energising diverse teams to adopt best practice, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything we do.    
  • Have a professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation with an ability to apply relevant technical practices, codes, and standards in the design of separator, vessel, tank, pump, piping, heat exchanger, heater, compressor, control valve, PSV. 
  • Be able to perform Process Design & Detailed Engineering including performing process simulations (HYSYS, Flarenet, PIPESIM, OLGA), design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of equipment, instrument and related items and process control and overpressure protection design. 
  • Have proven experience preparing engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as: Block Flow Diagram (BFD), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), Heat and Material Balances (H&M), Hazardous Area Classification, and Process Datasheets, Equipment Specifications and Control philosophies.
  • Be commercially astute with a “solutions mindset”, skilled in the management of risk during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements, 
  • Proven experience performing process study reports and providing input on HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and 3D model reviews and an ability to contribute to technical clarifications and technical bid evaluations
  • Be an articulate communicator (both written and verbal) including well-developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills with command of command of both Thai and English.
  • Be customer focused with an ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, while balancing operational excellence to contribute to the competitive advantage of #teamwood.
