As a member of the Engineering team, you will have a unique opportunity to take ownership of developing the native parts of our Flutter applications using Kotlin programming language for Android platforms and creating applications from scratch for Android devices, working closely alongside some of the brightest minds in the mobile app arena. Your expertise and dedication will be essential in shaping the development and success of our apps. 

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop mobile applications using Kotlin, overseeing the entire development lifecycle of Android-specific projects
• Implement necessary native Android developments into Flutter applications
• Create applications from scratch for Android devices such as phones, tablets, watches and TVs
• Stay abreast of Android updates, assisting the team in taking necessary actions by monitoring new developments in the field
• Provide specialized support to Flutter developers leveraging your expertise in Android and Kotlin

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Engineering or a related subject
• At least 2 years of experience as an Android Developer
• Proven software development experience and skills in the mobile app industry with at least one app reference published in stores
• Expertise in Kotlin
• Strong command of Kotlin Coroutines
• Mastery of Jetpack Compose
• Deep understanding of Android design principles
• Proficiency in Git
• Proficiency in Local Databases
• Experience with performance optimization
• Capability to write tests
• Knowledge of Firebase services is a plus
• Analytical and solution-oriented mindset
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities
• Exceptional multitasking and time-management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely project delivery without compromising code quality
• Ability to visualize solutions when a development-related issue is being discussed
• Ability to write readable, understandable, modifiable, extendable and flexible code
• Creativity in problem-solving, offering innovative solutions
• Proficiency in fostering effective team communication and collaboration
• A keen interest in emerging technologies, staying updated with their advancements
• Proven ability to work autonomously; taking initiative, owning the work and seeing projects through to completion with minimal oversight
• Fluency in English, enabling effortless participation in technical discussions and effective collaboration

What does the recruitment process look like?

2. Interview: A 30-minute Google Meet interview with our People & Culture Specialist will be conducted to discuss your experience, expectations, and potential synergies. This will help us determine how we can collaborate effectively.

3. Case Study: You will be provided with a project relevant to the position, which you will complete to demonstrate your proficiency and practical knowledge.

4. Technical Meeting: A Google Meet session with our team lead will be arranged for you to engage in in-depth discussions on technical topics that align with your expertise. You will be asked specific questions to further showcase your technical skills.

5. Team Meeting: You will have an in-person meeting with the founders of AppNation, during which we will discuss your expectations and explore how you can contribute to our team. This interview will also provide an opportunity for you to gain insights into AppNation's culture and working environment.

6. Final Decision: Within a few days, we will inform you of our decision regarding your suitability for the role.
