Responsibilities:

The 3rd Engineer is responsible for assisting the Chief Engineer and 2nd Engineer in the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room and dredging support machinery onboard the dredger. The role supports continuous and efficient dredging operations in compliance with company procedures and maritime regulations


Key Responsibilities


  • Operate and maintain main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance as per Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Maintain dredging support equipment such as dredge pumps, winches, pipelines, and hydraulic systems.
  • Monitor machinery performance, fuel systems, lubrication, and cooling systems during operations.
  • Maintain engine room logs, maintenance records, and spare parts inventory.
  • Assist during bunkering, dry docking, and machinery overhaul activities.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper housekeeping in engine room and workshop areas.
  • Follow company HSE procedures, PTW, and LOTO requirements during maintenance works.
  • Participate in emergency drills and respond to machinery breakdowns and emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, Class, and Flag State requirements.
  • Supervise engine ratings and support safe and efficient engine room operations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in marine/mechanical engineering


Certificate of Competency (COC) as 3rd Engineer.


Experience onboard dredgers, offshore vessels, or marine vessels preferred.
