Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.We are looking for an Associate - Electrical who will be a key part of the Buildings Management Team accountable for the operational performance, technical wellbeing and people leadership of the Electrical discipline across the Arup Middle East Buildings Practice located in Dubai. The role holder will also be responsible for the Project Manager (PM) role for selected multi or single disciplinary projects. The role holder must take a ‘hands on’ approach to all aspects of the role.RoleKey responsibilities will include:Business Leadership· Responsible for the leadership and support of their team· Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with Arup policies· Ensure the right resources are utilised effectively at the right time across their team and projects· Engaging with the wider Arup teams to ensure that communication and design processes are continually improved· Lead the recruitment and selection process within the electrical discipline· Conduct meaningful inductions and performance management appraisals that support the development of individuals and the business· Contribute to succession planning and career development across their team· Support the development and delivery of training and awareness sessions as required· Attend and contribute to monthly Middle East Buildings Practice management meetings· Lead the development of the discipline strategy and drive the implementation of the Practice and Region strategy· Provide project and team updates for the development of the electrical discipline· Attend and lead team and project meetings, cascade relevant information and encourage feedback from the team· Contribute to the setting and delivering of discipline and project forecasts and targets· Lead by example and ensure AMS and IPP compliance across their team and projectsBusiness Development· Contribute to business development activities through participation in external market profile raising activities and functions· Actively develop external and internal client relationships· Proactively co sell other Arup services and where applicable the wider business· Act as the Bid Manager on selected prospects· Provide technical leadership to respond to prequalification documents, Request for Price (RFPs) and other client inquiriesProject Leadership· To act as PM on selected projects by managing the successful delivery of high quality multi and single disciplinary projects· Ensure that own projects adhere to AMS and that projects led by direct reports adhere to AMS· Accountable for the formation of the contractual relationship between the business and the client; taking the process from proposal to contract, utilising the advice of the support functions· Engage with Arup overseas teams at the Prospect stage through to completion to ensure the most cost-efficient delivery of their projects.· Ensure proactive project planning, stakeholder and risk management takes place across projects· Supervise the team to identify, assess and manage major project risk and secure the best commercial return from the projects in their portfolio· To ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met· Accountable for the delivery of project financial targets, forecasts, working capital targets for own projects· Support the overseeing and delivery of the process of working capital management from inception to completion within set deadlines; This includes the timing of invoicing, the review of Work in Progress (WIP) and the collection of outstanding invoices from clients whilst utilising the advice of the support functions as necessary· Contribute to the completion of monthly management project reports to be issued by set deadlineTechnical· Keep up to date with industry developments with respect to own discipline, other disciplines and engineering innovations and developments on a global scale· Initiate and support the technical capabilities of the discipline and the company wide business· Maintain contact with key technical leaders across Arup offices and around the world· Lead technical solutions on projects· Drive innovation and utilise technological advancement· Contribute to and lead design reviews in alignment with the AMS system· Act as the technical authority for electrical engineering· Willing to write design reports, specifications and produce electrical design required.Requirements and skills· BEng / BSc (Hon) in Electrical engineering or equivalent degree with minimum 10 years post graduate experience· Member of associated Professional body· Chartered Engineer status required· Experience and proven ability to lead and manage an engineering team and multi-disciplinary projects· Experience of working in a Middle East environment preferred· Good interpersonal skills essential· Comprehensive experience in associated discipline software· Holding the following is advantageous: Dubai Municipality accreditation, Dubai Civil Defence accreditation, Society of Engineers cardReward and BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary at all levels, and one of the best benefits packages in our sector.Benefits include cover under the UAE Healthcare Plan (private medical insurance with dental cover up to a limit), Life Assurance and Personal Accident Insurance cover.
