The Attender provides administrative and basic non-clinical support to the nursing team to ensure smooth functioning of the ward. The role includes assisting with patient coordination, maintaining ward documentation, supporting patient movement, and ensuring the ward environment remains organized and efficient.
Administrative Duties
•
Maintain patient records, files, and ward registers as directed by nursing staff.
•
Update patient admission, discharge, and transfer information in hospital systems or registers.
•
Answer telephone calls and communicate messages to nurses and doctors.
•
Coordinate with other departments (laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, housekeeping, and transport).
•
Prepare and maintain patient documentation, forms, and reports.
•
Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of patient records.
Patient Support Duties
•
Help patients and visitors with directions and basic information within the ward.
•
Assist nursing staff with non-clinical patient care tasks when required.
•
Ensure patient comfort items and ward supplies are available.
Ward Support Duties
•
Maintain cleanliness and organization of nursing stations and ward areas.
•
Ensure adequate stock of forms, stationery, and non-medical supplies.
•
Assist with receiving and distributing supplies within the ward.
•
Report maintenance or safety issues in the ward.
Communication & Coordination
•
Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare staff.
•
Support nurses in coordinating patient-related administrative tasks.
•
Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
•
High school diploma or equivalent.
•
Certificate in healthcare assistance or ward clerk training (preferred).
•
Basic computer knowledge (MS Office / Hospital Information System).
•
Good communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
Experience
•
1–2 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
•
Experience in ward administration or patient support roles is an advantage.
