Database Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain database systems to ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data.
2. Collaborate with software developers, system architects, and other stakeholders to understand database requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
3. Perform data modeling, schema design, and database optimization to support application development and business objectives.
4. Configure and administer database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
5. Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and data encryption mechanisms to protect sensitive information.
6. Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize query performance to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
7. Plan and execute database backups, disaster recovery procedures, and database migrations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
8. Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, configurations, and procedures.
9. Evaluate and recommend new database technologies, tools, and techniques to enhance database performance, scalability, and reliability.
10. Provide technical guidance and support to junior database administrators and other team members.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2. Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role in the UAE.
3. Proficiency in database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
4. Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
5. Hands-on experience with database administration tasks such as installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
6. Knowledge of database security best practices, including access controls, authentication mechanisms, and encryption techniques.
7. Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, disaster recovery planning, and database replication.
8. Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, or pgAdmin.
9. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
10. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
