Job description

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join our Construction Supervision team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will play a key role in monitoring and promoting health, safety, and environmental compliance across a major infrastructure construction project.
The HSE Advisor will support the Resident Engineer and Construction Management team in ensuring that all construction activities are performed in accordance with project HSE requirements, Abu Dhabi regulations, client standards, and international best practices. The role will involve regular site inspections, contractor audits, incident investigations, and proactive engagement with project stakeholders to foster a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSE plans, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and safety audits to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, lifting plans, and permit-to-work systems from an HSE perspective.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of project HSE management systems.
  • Monitor compliance with local authority regulations, client requirements, and WSP HSE policies.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Prepare and maintain HSE records, reports, inspection logs, and performance statistics.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and project progress meetings.
  • Monitor contractor emergency preparedness arrangements and response plans.
  • Promote a positive safety culture among project teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Escalate significant HSE concerns to the Resident Engineer and Project Management team.
  • Support environmental compliance activities including waste management, dust control, noise monitoring, and pollution prevention measures.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of HSE experience within construction projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience on infrastructure construction supervision projects, such as roads, highways, utilities, bridges, drainage, public realm, or transportation projects.
  • Proven experience working for engineering consultants, supervision consultants, or project management consultants (PMC).
  • Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and construction safety standards.
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (minimum requirement).
  • Professional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, CMIOSH, CSP, or equivalent will be advantageous.
  • Experience conducting HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and reporting systems.
