PEDIATRIC PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Provides direct patient care, conducts a patient assessment and re-assessment, establishes patient goals and care plan for physiotherapy services using different therapeutic techniques without or with the utilization of assistive medical devices and/or equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsiblefor the management of inpatients with respiratory conditions requiring physiotherapy aged 0-18 years.
- Responsible for the respiratory management of patients with non-CF bronchiectasis, PCD, Neuromuscular conditions (including SMA), Tracheostomies and long term ventilation, NIV and other respiratory diseases.
- provide a highly specialist role in respiratory clinics, including non-CFbronchiectasis clinic and PCD clinic.
- Manage an outpatient caseload.
- Provide an advisory and liaison service to patients, families/care givers, physiotherapy colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
- Work closely with the Pediatric PuImonologist, PICU Respiratory therapists, and the rest of the pediatric physiotherapy team.
- Provide supervision to the junior physiotherapists and staff nurses, and provide cross cover to wards, PICU and NICU as per the needs of the service, including late shifts, weekend working and on calls.
- Act as a highly specialist source of expertisein the respiratory management of patients with non-CFbronchiectasis, PCD, Neuromuscular conditions (including SMA), Tracheostomies and long-term ventilation, NIV, and other respiratory diseases.
- Demonstrates full compliance and the abilityto follow the proper communication process andthe chain of command structure in reportingpatient related incidents, complaints and/or other related issues of concerns.
- Maintains full compliance to the safety requirements of physiotherapy medical equipment, performs functional and calibration checks and ensuresthat all medical equipment for repair is reported to Biomedical Engineer and the follow-up repair required is processed and completed.
- Demonstrates full compliance and competence to the AHO and PTO clinical policy and procedure including patient and equipment safety and the prevention and control of infection required to provide patient care.
- Maintain full compliance in properlyreportingall patient care related incidents and/or customer service complaints to improve patient care services.
- Participates in the department staff meetings and unit projects and implementing/ evaluating creative approaches to meeting goals.
- Performs additional duties and/or tasks as specifiedand/or assigned.
- Assists as a clinical resource to the patient,patient's relatives and/or caregiver, junior Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, Nursing, Speech Pathologist, and other medical staff.
- Maintains the availability of physiotherapy medicalequipmentfor patient'sutilization, performdaily and monthly inventory andensures that these equipment are placed and/or stored in the designated areas.
- Maintains full compliance to the safety and availability of physiotherapy medicalsupplies safe,minimizes medicalsupplies losses andreports to Materials Management Department all supply replacements, expiry, and losses requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree of Sciencein Physiotherapy and/or Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
- Current license of practice in country of origin or country point of hire and/or Dubai Health Authority (DHA), United Arab Emirates.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have:
- Minimum of five (5) years'experience post certification as a Pediatric Physiotherapist.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
