We are currently seeking a Principal Offshore Structural Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of the Department to join our team based in UAE, Abu Dhabi.

Qualification


  • Minimum BE/B.Tech in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • ME/M.Tech with specialization in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation is an added advantage.

Experience


  • Minimum 18–20 years of relevant Offshore Structural Engineering experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary offshore engineering teams across Conceptual, FEED, EPC, EPIC, Brownfield, and Asset Improvement projects.
  • Extensive experience working with major operators such as ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, and other international clients.

Role Purpose


The Principal Offshore Structural Engineer shall serve as the technical authority for offshore structural engineering within the organization, providing leadership, governance, and engineering expertise for complex offshore projects. The role requires responsibility for technical quality, engineering decision-making, design optimization, client engagement, and the development of engineering standards and best practices.


Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership


  • Act as the Lead Technical Authority for Offshore Structural Engineering activities.
  • Provide technical direction, mentorship, and guidance to Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, Structural Engineers, and Structural Designers.
  • Review, approve, and validate critical engineering deliverables and design calculations.
  • Drive engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives within the discipline.

Structural Design & Analysis


Lead and oversee the analysis and design of:


  • Jackets and Jacket Appurtenances
  • Piled Foundations
  • Topside Modules
  • Integrated Decks
  • Bridges
  • Flare Towers and Flare Structures
  • Helidecks
  • Living Quarters
  • Pipeline Risers
  • Equipment Support Structures
  • Brownfield Modifications
  • Subsea Support Structures
  • Offshore Renewable and Hybrid Energy Structures (where applicable)

Ensure projects comply with:


  • API RP 2A
  • ISO 19902
  • AISC
  • DNV Standards
  • ADNOC Standards
  • Saudi Aramco Standards
  • QatarEnergy Standards
  • Client-specific engineering requirements

Advanced Structural Analysis


Provide technical oversight for:

  • Structural Integrity Assessment
  • Life Extension Studies

Installation Analysis

  • Float-over and Float-off Analysis
  • Launch Analysis
  • Temporary Condition Assessments

Project Delivery & Coordination


  • Manage technical interfaces with clients, project management teams, certification authorities, fabricators, installation contractors, and global execution centers.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, Constructability Reviews, and Model Reviews.
  • Support project planning, resource forecasting, and engineering execution strategies.
  • Resolve complex technical issues affecting project schedules and deliverables.

Weight Control Engineering


  • Establish project weight management philosophies and procedures.
  • Review and approve weight estimates, weight control reports, and center-of-gravity calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with project weight budgets throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality & Governance


  • Review and approve engineering deliverables prepared by project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards, company procedures, and client specifications.
  • Lead technical audits, peer reviews, and lessons-learned sessions.

Business Development Support


  • Support proposal preparation, manhour estimates, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Participate in client presentations and technical clarification meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic growth and capability development within the Offshore Structural Discipline.

Software Skills Mandatory


  • SACS

  • STAAD Pro (or equivalent)
  • SP3D / S3D awareness
  • Microsoft Office Suite
