The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of environmental engineering. The research assistant should be knowledgeable of advanced material characterization techniques and familiar with transport through packed bed reactors. The candidate will perform miscible displacement experiments using packed columns to assess the dynamics of microplastic-pharmaceutical contamination in soil systems. The preferred candidate should have demonstrated laboratory experience with a master’s degree in civil engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry. The candidate should be qualified to join the PhD program at the UAE University in Spring 2027.


Minimum Qualifications:


• BSc in civil engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry with a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 • MSc in civil engineering, chemical engineering, or chemistry with a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 • A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 within the last two years • Demonstrated experience of using advanced material characterization techniques • Good technical writing skills


Preferred Qualifications:


• Command of using LC/MS-MS • Authorship of journal/conference papers
