Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To provide technical leadership, guiding the engineering team in architectural decision and best practices in order to solve complex engineering challenges within established guardrails.

 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

1. Line Manager To receive direction and support, discuss performance and ensure objectives are met
2. Direct Reports To provide direction and support, manage performance and development.
3. Peers - To provide support for Business/Infrastructure Projects
4. Internal Stakeholders - To provide support for business/Infrastructure projects
5. External Vendors - To resolve/escalate support issues and obtain updates on new products/features.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Engineering Delivery and Excellence

Lead design, implementation and technical artefacts for technology lifecycles to ensure compliance with ADCB engineering standards and guardrails. Build and implement standard and repeatable design patterns, components and technology solutions in order to deliver on business objectives, customer needs and ensure security, scalability, reliability and performance. Maintain and share current thinking and trends around technology trends and practices in order to mentor and coach engineers around best practice and skills modernisation. Day-to-day implementation of technology and digital strategy, roadmaps and prioritised initiatives as agreed with Platforms, Chapters and Tribes, working in cross-functional squads to ensure achievement of agreed turnaround times (TATs) and implementation plan. Guide, coach and role model a data-driven approach, including producing reporting and insights, in order to maximise performance. Play a lead role with engineering teams and squads around change control, testing, incident management, troubleshooting and release management to ensure effective implementation. Contribute to engineering acceleration initiatives across ADCB to ensure best practice solutions and initiatives are identified and recommended for implementation. Identify and adopt emerging technologies and industry best practices in order to drive innovation.

Vendors and Partners

Oversee coordination with external vendors to ensure services are provided as per agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and TATs and remediation plans are in place for variances beyond tolerance thresholds. Work closely with solution architects and vendors in order to enhance ADCB capabilities and address technical debt.

People Management

Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance. Organise and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems.

Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, and ensure employee adherence so that work is carried out to the required standard while delivering the required standards of service to customers and stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the Bank’s standards.

Customer Service

Demonstrate Our Promise and apply the ADCB Service Standards to deliver the Bank’s required levels of service in all internal and external customer interactions.
