Job Description

Job Purpose


Accountable to senior management for the design, execution and improvement of the Configuration Management process. This is a technical role that is vital to the success of an ITOM ServiceNow implementation. You should be able to establish a firm process governance model that defines, measures, and monitors best practices in CMDB Administration.


Key Accountabilities


  • Acts as a Servant leader & creates autonomous Team
  • Ensures consistencies across requirements for the processes managed
  • Design and Implement the process that will use discovery tools to capture IT Systems which will populate the Configuration Management Database to be used as a primary source of truth for enterprise data.
  • Maintains the governance, policies, and strategy of the CMDB 
  • Maintains the integrity of the CMDB and Discovery processes 
  • Works closely with Asset Management and ITSM teams 
  • Identify improvements with consumers of data whose processes interact with the CMDB 
  • Review CI quality with owners of data 
  • Participate in weekly CAB meetings and ensure CMDB data is part of all changes and is driving positive Change Management 
  • Establish and maintain naming style/ conventions for CI’s to be managed / controlled 
  • Own and manage the process of relationships created in the CMDB promoting best practices for key IT and Business services and applications to all configuration items

Qualifications

Essential


  • 7+ Years of Experience in SDLC or Service Management and at least 3 years of extensive specialization in a expertise area.
  • Understanding business applications and their functionality in the ITIL model 
  • Comprehension of and the ability to communicate and implement the ITIL CMDB model 
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across multiple stakeholders to ensure an effective CMDB that adheres to governance standards 
  • Broad general knowledge of IT infrastructure topology including typical application, server, and networking configurations 

Desirable


  • Comprehension of the ServiceNow CMDB model 
  • Ability to communicate and implement the ITIL CMDB Model 
  • 2+ years overall experience with ServiceNow ITOM
  • 5+ years overall experience in an IT Service Management role 
  • The following training and/or related certifications are desirable: 
    ServiceNow Fundamentals 
    ServiceNow Discovery Fundamentals 
    ITILv4 Foundations
