The Role


As an experienced engineer, with a strong appreciation of process design and an interest in the holistic aspects of Greenfield and Brownfield projects, you will grow your career through taking Commercial and Client Stakeholder management responsibility for delivering across the pre-FEED phases of project implementation (pre-feasibility, concept, feasibility, pre-FEED etc). 


Focusing on predictable project delivery against key internal and external metrics of cost, schedule and quality you will steer your project team to develop the technoeconomic solution that guides your client to successfully achieve the next stage in their decision gate process. 


You will interface with a multi-disciplinary team of highly capable Subject Matter Experts and Consultants to deliver best in class solutions that will ensure high customer satisfaction. This will lead to opportunities for further advancement of your career in multiple directions.

Responsibilities:

Study Leadership & Delivery


  • Lead the execution of concept, feasibility, and pre-FEED studies from initiation to completion
  • Define study scope, objectives, and success criteria in alignment with client requirements
  • Develop and manage the Study Execution Plan (SEP) including schedule, deliverables, and milestones
  • Ensure studies are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards

Technical Management & Coordination


  • Manage and coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team (process, mechanical, piping, civil, E&I, HSE)
  • Ensure consistency and integration across all technical disciplines and deliverables
  • Oversee development and review of:
       - Process design basis and simulations
       - Heat & material balances
       - Equipment sizing and specifications
       - Plot plans and layouts
  • Interface with technology licensors and vendors where required.

Concept Development & Selection


  • Identify and develop multiple development concepts and design options
  • Facilitate concept screening and selection workshops
  • Perform technical, economic, and risk-based evaluations of alternatives
  • Recommend the optimal concept considering cost, operability, constructability, and risk

Cost Estimation & Economics


  • Oversee preparation of CAPEX and OPEX estimates (Class V to Class III)
  • Coordinate development of economic models (NPV, IRR, sensitivity analysis)
  • Ensure estimates are robust, benchmarked, and aligned with market conditions.

Risk & Value Management


  • Lead risk identification and mitigation workshops (technical, commercial, HSE)
  • Maintain and manage the study risk register
  • Drive value engineering and cost optimization initiatives
  • Ensure uncertainties are clearly defined and communicated.

HSE & Regulatory Compliance


  • Ensure integration of HSE-by-design principles in all study phases\
  • Support early-stage safety reviews such as:
       - HAZID (Hazard Identification)
       - HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study)
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and international standards.

Stakeholder & Client Interface


  • Act as the primary focal point for the client throughout the study lifecycle
  • Coordinate with:
       - Internal departments (subsurface, operations, commercial)
       - External stakeholders (consultants, licensors, vendors)
  • Present study outcomes to senior management and investment committees.

Reporting & Deliverables


  • Ensure preparation and quality of key deliverables:
       - Concept Selection Report
       - Feasibility Study Report
       - Basis of Design (BoD)
       - Pre-FEED package
  • Provide regular progress reports including schedule, cost, and risk updates.

Planning, Budget & Resource Management


  • Develop and control study budgets and forecasts
  • Allocate and manage engineering resources efficiently
  • Monitor progress against schedule and implement corrective actions.

Interface & Data Management


  • Manage interfaces between:
       - Engineering disciplines
       - Subsurface and surface teams
       - Third-party contractors and vendors
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and version control across all deliverables.

Governance & Stage-Gate Assurance


  • Ensure compliance with company stage-gate processes (DG0–DG3 or equivalent)
  • Prepare documentation required for decision gate approvals
  • Support investment decision readiness (FID).

Expected:



  • Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering or Science Discipline
  • Commercial awareness of project delivery
  • Understands the levels of detail required to support the early phase decision making process for pre-FEED phases (pre-feasibility, concept, feasibility, pre-FEED etc)
  • Experienced in chairing meetings and facilitating workshops
  • Capable of motivating and leading multi-disciplined and multi-cultural teams, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Ability to develop compelling proposals to solve client problems, including manhour, execution strategy and schedule development. 
  • Communicates effectively to build collaboration and influence stakeholders

  • Familiarity with New Energies sectors – hydrogen, ammonia, carbon capture, industrial decarbonization

Desirable:


  • Chartered Engineer or Scientist
  • Member of an appropriate professional institution
  • Some level of qualification from Association of Project Management or similar
  • Commercial exposure through responsible positions in Proposals, Legal or Commercial
  • Experience in FEED, EPC, Commissioning and / or Operations such that Clients recognize the experience from later phases being considered in their early project phase
  • Experience in the Middle East/Gulf region on gas process offshore projects is mandatory
  • Proficient in the use of project scheduling, estimating and cost accounting tools and methods
