Not to long ago - Once you walked out of the office your day was done.

When I was going to meet someone and they were late - I had to wait or go.

If you wanted to speak to you parents - you had to find a pay phone.

Friends were made though meeting at places not Facebook

Meeting people to out with like a meeting a new boyfriend or girlfriend had to be a real meeting. Physically meet.

Yes, when your families are overseas you can communicate to them anytime you want.
In terms of work sometimes it helps but mostly not. In work we need to focus on our workplace for the betterment of company, the company hired you to help them expand their business so that they will hire and help other people to work.
