Job Description

Job Purpose


To lead & manage the Business Planning function for Group Retail Banking and ila Business & Customer and ila to ensure the strategic initiatives and projects serve the best interest of the bank.
To provide consultative support to the Group Head of Retail Banking and ila management team with business analysis, market understanding, all reporting requirements, financial forecasts and result simulation.
To act as a project coordinator for ila business and to ensure all ila business projects are on track by liaising between business stakeholders as well as providing progress reports to the Head of Business and Customer.


Principal Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Deliverables of Role:


  1. Manage, measure and monitor the Actual Performance against key KPIs by timely preparation and delivery of periodic updates and reports highlighting significant events and trends to assist Group Head of Retail Banking and ila Business in developing their strategy and business direction.
  2. Create new and ad hoc MI/ BI reports by generating updated periodic reporting documents [Steerco, Board, etc.] ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to support decisioning and enhancing the understanding of the products and features for Group Retail Banking and ila.
  3. Participate in periodic planning and budget cycles by providing forecasts and trends of Group Retail business performance with the support of detailed and accurate financial and related information in coordination with the business team to facilitate timely finalization of planning and budgeting activities.
  4. Design robust financial models based on historical and or market data to forecast performance of a product or service to support decision making.
  5. Engage with BI team by recommending modification or enhancements to existing reports and or creation of new ones to ensure financial data/ information completeness, accuracy of classification and reporting, analysis, forecasting, and modelling. 
  6. Develop and construct Business Decisions Support Tools using business intelligence to support the Group Head of Retail Banking management team in making choices and decisions.
  7. Provide RBD Business and Support managers with consultative support in planning initiatives through financial feasibility, business analysis, decision support tools and recommendations.
  8. Maintain an updated, complete and current record of competitor analysis, benchmarking, market share and demographic trends to assess market trends, feasibility of new products and services and recommend a road map for continuous enhancements of existing products and implementation of new ideas by utilizing customer research and identifying shifts in customer preferences across all units under Group Retail Banking.
  9. Track and follow up on the status of the backlog of planned products, services and features to provide timely update and highlights on the progress and assist in prioritizing these based on business requirements by liaising with business and other stakeholders.
  10. Engage with product owners to support the development of financial feasibility and product profitability assessments by developing appropriate planning models.

Experience:


  • At least 5 years of banking experience, of which at least the last 3 years should be in a similar position, involving hands-on execution of BI, Reporting and Planning deliverables.
  • Excellent knowledge of banking products and services and understanding of related business processes.
  • Abreast of latest technologies and trends that have an impact on financial product and services development.
  • Very good knowledge of financial management; capable of analyzing and interpreting results of operations and assessment of profitability.

Education:


  • Graduate degree/MBA, preferably in Finance
