Overview

V2X is seeking a Field Service Engineer, Pump Shop who is an SME on shipboard marine pumps systems used in various naval ship applications for Egypt In-Country.


Applicant must have a working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items that apply to various pumping systems. Must also have experience on US Navy vessels. This is a technically diverse and service-oriented team position with a proven track record of providing customers with superior service and technical capabilities.



This is an unaccompanied billet, but the successful applicant can have family member/dependents with them at the successful applicant’s own expense.




Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.


Major Job Activities: The successful applicant will be required to provide consulting oversight and On-the-job (OJT) training to the workforce of Egyptian Nationals on how to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace pumping systems effectively and conduct preventive maintenance to minimize future issues. Candidate will require to document their findings, repairs, and recommendations for internal records and reference during the execution of ship availabilities for various ship platforms as required and directed by in-country V2Xmanagement.


  • Perform troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling marine pumps using approved technical work packages and technical publications. Tasking includes but is not limited to, supporting removal and repairs to pumps, piping, valves (replacement and rebuild), and repairs to other engineering systems and subsystems typically found aboard U.S. Navy vessels and boats.
  • Perform intermediate and depot-level repairs on all types of pump and valve systems, subsystems, equipment, and auxiliary systems found aboard the US Navy/ former US. Navy vessels and boats in support of Egyptian Navy shipboard lifecycle maintenance requirements.
  • Candidate must be proficient in using hand tools, precision measurement tools, and equipment to perform repairs. They will also be required to conduct pre and post shift meeting to ensure daily work is assigned, completed, and documented. Possess a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.
  • Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition and open and inspection reports. Use technical publications to identify and order required repair parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Activities:


  • Medium work. Lift and carry up to 25 pounds, stand, sit, walk, climb, push and pull, balance, bend stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, talk, hear, see, taste, smell, repetitive motion, eye/hand coordination and fine manipulation.
  • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
  • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 


Must have knowledge of intermediate and depot-level repair procedures, repair and maintenance standards, quality assurance specifications, and proper use of IMA industrial machinery.


  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree equivalent required.
  • Candidate must be proficient in using hand tools, precision measurement tools, and equipment to perform repairs and have a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.
  • Minimum 4 years of Shipyard or Naval experience with a minimum of 10 years of troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing issues with shipboard pumping systems.
  • Must be able to work both independently and with a team.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with basic computer operation and able to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets as required.
  • Must be able to interpret vessel blueprints, ship drawings, and pump related drawings in addition to research ships’ systems manuals to identify problems as they arise.
  • Must be able to diagnose and repair technical issues, provide customer support, and contribute to the overall maintenance and improvement of pumping systems.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain a Country Clearance and Base Pass authorization.
  • Applicant must have a current passport at least two years before expiration after arrival in Egypt.
  • Successful applicant will be forward deployed in Alexandria, Egypt, and work as part of an In Country Ship Repair Industrial Team (ICSRIT).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


  •  Prior ship maintenance experience or working knowledge of expectations and safety protocols related to a shipyard environment.
  • Experience working in an Arab country for long periods.
