Job Title: IP country officer (attorney).


Job Purpose:


The Intellectual Property Attorney is responsible for providing legal counsel and representation to clients regarding intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.


This role involves advising clients on intellectual property rights, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in negotiations, administrative proceedings, and litigation related to intellectual property disputes.


Responsibilities:


Administrative Legal:


Legal Counsel: Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on intellectual property matters, including the protection, enforcement, and licensing of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.


Legal Research: Conduct legal research to analyze intellectual property laws, regulations, and precedents relevant to clients' needs and objectives.


Document Drafting: Prepare and review legal documents, including patent applications, trademark registrations, copyright notices, licensing agreements, cease and desist letters, and other legal instruments related to intellectual property rights.


Intellectual Property Protection: Assist clients in securing and protecting their intellectual property rights through registration, enforcement, and defense strategies.


Due Diligence: Conduct intellectual property due diligence investigations in support of corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements.


Intellectual Property Litigation: Represent clients in intellectual property disputes, including infringement claims, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and administrative hearings before the trademark office in Egypt and the relevant courts.


Negotiation: Negotiate settlements, licensing agreements, and other resolutions to intellectual property disputes on behalf of clients.


Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by providing responsive and effective legal services, addressing their concerns, and keeping them informed about developments in intellectual property law that may affect their interests.


Law and regulation updates: Keep up-to-date with developments in trademark / patent law and practice.


Update head office and be on all new and relevant laws regarding Intellectual property.


Portfolio management: strategy, and support for local and international who have portfolios locally or internationally.


Key Requirements:


  • Law (part of the bar association) educational background.
  • Completion of the WIPO IP beginners course is a must. (can be done after joining).
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in IP.
  • Legal knowledge: Should have a strong understanding of trademark law and related legal principles, such as intellectual property law, contract law, and litigation.
  • Analytical skills: should be able to analyze complex legal issues, identify relevant facts, and develop sound legal arguments.
  • Communication skills: should have excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate legal concepts and advice to clients and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail: should be detail-oriented and able to manage complex legal documents and filings with precision and accuracy.
  • Problem-solving skills: should be able to identify potential legal issues and provide creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Time management skills: should be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Client service skills: should be able to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and provide high-quality legal services that meet their needs.
  • Negotiation skills: should be able to negotiate and draft legal agreements, such as trademark licenses and settlement agreements, to protect your clients' interests.
  • Business acumen: should have a strong understanding of the business and commercial implications of trademark law, and be able to provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Cultural sensitivity: should be able to work effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and be familiar with international trademark law and practice.

  • Working Days: From Sunday to Thursday.
