Job Description

Job purpose Team PHINIA is seeking an Engineering Tools License Management Specialist. This key role involves the comprehensive management of software licensing for our engineering tools, focusing on allocation, reporting, purchasing, and effective usage monitoring. The specialist will be adept in developing analytical views in Power BI to generate detailed usage reports and must possess experience with Open LM. The primary goal of this position is to tightly manage licensing with clear visibility into usage patterns, make informed updates, and oversee license server setups and strategic management.

Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the allocation, reporting, and expiration dates of licenses for various engineering tools, ensuring optimal utilization and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain Business Intelligence views and dashboards to provide insightful usage reports and analysis of engineering software tools.
  • Utilize the License manager application (OpenLM) for effective license monitoring and management, identifying trends and optimizing license allocation.
  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to manage license server setups, including strategy planning and implementation.
  • Conduct regular audits of software licenses to ensure alignment with current and future engineering needs and compliance with vendor agreements.
  • Analyze usage data to make informed decisions on license renewals, purchases, and reallocations.
  • Liaise with software vendors to stay informed about licensing options and changes.
  • Provide training and support to team members on license management processes and the use of Business Intelligence for reporting.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve license utilization efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of licenses, including renewals, and usage, ensuring transparency and accessibility of information.

What we’re looking for


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in license management with a strong understanding of software licensing models and practices.
  • Proficiency in developing reports and dashboards in Power BI or other
  • Experience with Open LM for license management and monitoring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong emphasis on data-driven decision making.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of effectively liaising with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and quality in reporting and data management.
  • Knowledge of engineering software tools and their licensing requirements is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure and network environments related to license server setups.
