The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
 

The IT Senior Software Engineer serves as the primary developer of new application systems. You will be involved with all aspects of software and product lifecycle management for the Medical Surgical Division of Solventum (Recent Healthcare spin-off of 3M).  This may include assisting with requirements definition, analyzing technical design alternatives, creating technical designs, coding, creating documentation, and collaborating with the SQA team to verify quality of the code.

To ensure success as an IT Senior Software Engineer you should have extensive experience in business design, coding, technical design, and high-level problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will work closely with business units, subject matter experts and technical resources to understand requirements, create technical designs, perform coding, create documentation, and assist to validate the quality of the code.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Developing software solutions by understanding information needs of Solventum and the Medical Surgical Division business.
• Advocating and enhancing the Agile software development lifecycle.
• Determining operational feasibility of solution designs by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
• Determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment, and by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
• Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• May manage small team of software engineers by providing advice, coaching, mentoring, and assisting to resolve complex technical or design issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field (completed and verified prior to start).
• 5 years' experience as an applications developer in private, public, government or military environments – (large and small projects).
• 3+ years experience with IBM Filenet
• 2+ years experience in unix scripting, java development, websphere application server
• Strong experience with OpenText RightFax software
• Knowledge and understanding of DocuSign is a plus.
• Experience in Java and .Net development is a plus.
• Knowledge and understanding of Kofax, RightFax is a plus.
• Experience with test driven development.
• Knowledge of relational database, SQL, object-oriented analysis and programming is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Project, MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Understand all aspects of software development lifecycle.
• Understand various SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall etc.).
• Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
  • UI/UX Design and Development.
  • EAI / API integration using tools like MuleSoft and/or Oracle Fusion Middleware.
  • PL/SQL, Data Analysis and Engineering.
  • Cloud (AWS/Azure), SaaS / PaaS Support and Engineering, CI/CD.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Lean/Six Sigma Green belt (or other process improvement disciplines).
• Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills across technical and senior operational management audiences.
• Previous position in Medical Device, or Health Care industry a plus 
• Strong experience in integration components such as web services, frameworks etc.
• Knowledge of microservices development and deployment lifecycle, networking and distributed architecture, security compliance, scalability configurations
• Experience using J2EE, XML, Java, JSP etc.
• Knowledge of web technologies such as Javascript, CSS, HTML5 etc.
• Previous experience with company policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with EU Privacy Shield, GDPR, PII, PHI and HIPAA.
• Familiar with various IT and PM tools – JIRA, RTC etc.
