Acceptance growth is central to the India and South Asia growth story. Our three-pronged growth strategy includes deeper seller-enabler partnerships, deployment of fit-for-purpose acceptance solutions and creating the right ecosystem for growth. Hence, deeper partnerships with acquirers, merchants, payment intermediaries and fintechs is a critical component of Visa’s expand access strategy. Equally so is the ability for Visa to enable better customer experiences and grow the business for our partners. Visa facilitates this by providing solutions and platforms that reduce friction in commerce, enhance convenience and ensure higher security in payments.


The Merchant Sales & Acquiring (MS&A) team is the global Visa organization entrusted with the responsibility of growing acceptance, deploying our acceptance payment solutions, and deepening partnerships. Visa has reinforced its focus on long-term acceptance growth by enhancing market investments and building the right talent and organization to execute.


Team and Position Summary


The Acceptance, Seller Solutions and Strategic Initiatives team is responsible for


  • Deploying and adapting Visa’s acceptance solutions with Visa network participants and partners. This includes the strategy, design and GTM for key new solutions such as QR scan-to-pay & innovations, SMB-oriented solutions such as app-based acceptance and tap-to-phone and offline payments. This team is responsible for seller-enablement for Visa’s suite of digital solutions such as Visa Click to Pay & Partner Pay, Push/Pull Provisioning, Standing Instructions, and Installments.


  • Own the management of all strategic initiatives (business focus areas) on the seller-side including tokenization, improving e-commerce experience and growth, growing contactless penetration, QR expansion, deploying & proliferating Visa Direct solutions, and Acquirer VAS solutions. This team is also accountable for segment growth strategies and deployment such as cross-border acquiring and transit. The team will also manage cross-functional initiatives such as POS or cross-border marketing.


  • The team is also accountable for all business planning and strategy for the MS&A organization as well as performance management and analytics.


The team will also oversee new business development with payment solutions partners such as ISOs, POS and VAS providers. This position and reports to the Senior Director Acceptance Solutions and Strategic Initiatives, India & South Asia.


Role Responsibilities


Key responsibilities and outcomes include:


  • Execute against the regional acceptance strategy for the market/cluster working closely with market Sales teams, Visa Product, CyberSource and AP Regional teams.


  • Develop and execute long-term strategy for acceptance growth and monitor progress against existing strategies, making changes and corrections periodically. Work in agile cross-functional cohorts for strategic initiatives such as Contactless growth, QR proliferation, etc.


  • Be a key contributor to acceptance campaigns in the market cluster and work with market AEs and cross-functional teams on GTM plans and monitoring performance.


  • Drive achievement of the cross-border acceptance plan for the market/cluster working closely with cluster cross-border lead, market AEs, marketing & CS teams. Lead cross-border initiatives for INSA MS&A including growth programs, seller-side campaigns, visibility/branding, etc.


  • Manage acceptance programs across segments incl. performance monitoring and dashboards, program/portfolio optimization, and program enhancements


  • Develop relationships in untapped, emerging, and non-traditional industries to help grow Visa acceptance.


  • Manage performance processes for driving new acceptance locations by engaging with market AEs and acquirers/payment facilitators


  • Contribute to the cluster’s pricing and interchange strategy by outlining opportunities for intervention and work through proposal and implementation with cluster & regional Pricing and Strategy teams


  • Drive Merchant Data Quality and Visa/Regulatory registration programs for the cluster with Acquirers to ensure accurate reporting and compliance requirements



Qualifications

• Payments expertise with a wide perspective on all elements of payments. The candidate must be able to collaborate and drive outcomes across various elements of payments such as merchant acquiring, processing, technology, payment facilitators & other intermediaries, etc.
• Program Management and Deployment: Manage solution development and deployment working with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and track against detailed project plans with timely management reporting and escalation to ensure timely delivery.
• Market understanding of the payments industry and India / South Asia market landscape. Industry experience in the payments ecosystem including acquiring banks, payments facilitators, merchant acceptors, payments networks or fintech operators is desirable.
• Familiarity with payment systems (switches, gateways, directories etc.) and architectures. Understanding of mobile payment and e-commerce platforms, services, and commercial models
• Seven or more years of relevant experience with a graduate/higher degree in business or technology.
• Good internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to engage meaningfully & present to senior management, as well as with senior partner executives across banks, merchants, payments intermediaries and technology firms.
• Curiosity and keenness to develop an understanding of new technologies, payment business models and profitability drivers.
• Self-motivated, results driven, flexible, customer focused. Should be a strong team-player.
• Full time position, based in Mumbai, India. Ability to travel for business is required.
