India and other growing markets represent a huge opportunity in PCs for the company who can best understand and then build specific products to meet the unique needs. With 500 million people with access to the internet but not PCs, HP is looking to build a new division in India to address this market. HP will succeed by developing local talent and designing products and solutions that are 100% targeted to the needs of the underserved population. Then for added scale HP will position and sell these solutions in other markets around the world.  


The need to deeply understand the market requirements, the India tech landscape and partner landscape as well as emerging new business models will be an essential part of providing the right solutions. An entrepreneurial mindset and spirit will form the basis of this new and exciting division at HP. 


Job Summary 
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Manager of Product Management with a deep understanding of the India market, a proven track record of building a winning product portfolio, and experience in building a world-class product management organization. This position will be responsible for planning, managing, and driving the portfolio of HP PCs, and other related services and solutions specifically targeted towards the India market with the view to also sell into other growing markets with the same needs. 


 
Responsibilities 


Market Analysis & Strategic Product Portfolio Definition 


  • Understanding customer, technology, channel, and competitive trends to influence the market. 
  • Defining a competitive product portfolio consistently with financial goals and strategic initiatives, aiming for the best ROI. 

Product Definition & Lifecycle Management 


  • Creating and proactively updating product definitions from Planning to End of Life (EOL) to deliver winning Product Fit Validation (PFV) and Net Promoter Score (NPS). 
  • Ensuring all product-related activities are executed to enable product success, including innovation promotion internally and externally. 

Product Strategy Alignment & Vision Development 


  • Establishing and driving product strategy and vision for PC solutions, ensuring alignment with company goals, strategic direction, and specific needs of the Indian market. 

Value Proposition Creation & Market Introduction 


  • Creating incremental or disruptive value propositions and product definitions. 
  • Selling-in new products to markets, including strategic retailers, and leveraging cross-functional teams to decide product trade-offs. 

Product Launch Coordination & Partner Management 


  • Coordinating developmental activities and ramp readiness for successful launches. 
  • Executing and maximizing Alliance Partner Programs and creating delightful Out of Box Experience (OOBE) in coordination with Design, Planning, New Product Introduction (NPI), and Marketing teams. 

Product Performance Optimization & Market Response 


  • Driving product changes based on market and competition dynamics to maximize performance. 
  • Optimizing end-user touchpoints to increase brand loyalty and validating product changes requested by Category or Excess and Obsolescence (E&O) teams. 

 Comprehensive Product Lifecycle Oversight 


  • Overseeing the entire product lifecycle from inception to launch, including market research, competitive analysis, product development, and product marketing. 


Education & Experience Recommended 


1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Business, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.  


2. Extensive experience in product management, including building a winning product portfolio, and a track record of building a world-class product management organization, preferably in the technology sector.   


3. Strong leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.   


4. Deep understanding of the Indian market and customer needs, with a proven track record of delivering successful products for this market.   


5. Familiarity with HP's range of products and services is an advantage.   


6. Entrepreneurial mindset is essential! The ability to think strategically and roll sleeves up and get things done in an ambiguous environment 


7. Typically has 15+ years of job-related experience or 10-12 years of management experience, preferably in product management, digital or software product development, or a related field.

• Impacts large functions and leads projects requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines or areas of HP. 
 
Complexity 
• Uses managerial concepts and company objectives to resolve highly complex issues in creative and effective ways. May achieve goals through subordinate managers.
