Meet Our Team:
The Media Supply Chain Engineering team builds the applications and services that power Warner Bros Discovery’s content supply chain. Our applications cover the entire breadth of the media supply chain, from idea to distribution. We have a robust global community of thousands of internal Warner Bros Discovery users who rely on our apps every day to get television produced, on the air, and onto Max.
Purpose of the Role:
A Senior Software Engineer is a recognized subject matter expert in one or more systems. They will tackle complex features of diverse scope with minimal oversight, while working collaboratively with a team of engineers. Can drive clarity and engage in creative problem solving even with limited information. An engineer in this role influences and mentors more junior members of the team via design and code reviews while maintaining an environment that is inclusive and supportive of engineering culture. Must possess the ability to adapt communication style to differing audiences when working with colleagues from engineering and non-engineering disciplines. An engineer in this role thinks constantly about the long-term health of their code, documentation, and infrastructure while also ensuring a high level of software quality within the team.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Build application service layers and UIs to support Warner Bros Discovery’s content supply chain
- design and development of entire systems within the supply chain. Build architectural diagrams that communicate what we need to build and how we need to build it.
- Describe and defend your design and code decisions to other engineers, embrace constructive feedback, and adapt your approach to align with team and company standards and objectives.
- Offer enhancements to best practices, document, design, and architecture improvements, and as feedback through code reviews to other engineers without continuous prompting or recurring encouragement. Other engineers appreciate your feedback.
- Troubleshoot a production issue by reviewing source code, logs, operational metrics, stack trace etc. to pinpoint a specific problem and then resolve it.
- Write comprehensive unit tests and perform thorough testing of your own software.
- Configure and manage infrastructure as necessary for project development.
- Participate in after-hours support rotations, being available for urgent issues on a scheduled basis.
What to Bring:
- 5-9 years of experience as a software developer – full stack
- Experience with event driven architecture or asynchronous messaging services
- Experience developing Single Page Applications with a modern UI framework
- Experience building web applications with (Angular JS ) and Java Spring Boot
- Experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Broad knowledge and experience in proficient understanding of relational databases (Ie., Oracle / SQL Server / MySQL / NoSQL)
- You have a proven track record of designing and building applications. Domain experience in building for media workflows, media catalogs, and asset registries would be a plus.
- You are an effective communicator, demonstrating this in your discussions with the team and stakeholders and through your documentation
- You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices.
- You deliver high-quality results the first time and improve code, documentation, and results with each iteration. Your team trusts your work.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and ask questions proactively when needed.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team player.
