Position Summary

With a strong understanding of Linux systems and programming, we build and operate reliable, scalable, and efficient platforms. We facilitate the adoption of self-service automation throughout the company through knowledge sharing, integrations, and the creation of reusable tools, templates, and API services.

As a Staff Engineer in our DevOps team, you will have responsibilities in both operations and development. In operations, you will be required to support, maintain, and enhance our infrastructure and services. On the development side, you will assist in creating versatile solutions that address cross-functional goals, while proactively improving our platform's features and processes.

Responsibilities

• Respond to API Gateway user emergencies, platform alerts, and support requests.

  
  

• Develop improvements to self-service API Gateway platform.

  
  

• Make process improvements and automate repetitive tasks.

  
  

• Write automation code from scripts to product-like services for DevOps Platform.

  
  

• Enforce policy compliance procedures through automated "guard rails".

  
  

• Develop solutions to drive optimization of cloud operations.

  
  

• Document and communicate procedures, configurations, and standards effectively.

  
  

• Create and maintain a highly available and resilient Linux-based infrastructure.

  
  

• Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Proficiency in a high-level programming language with the ability to independently write scripts, tools, and backend web services.

  
  

• In-depth understanding of HTTP, REST, with the ability to support and troubleshoot web services.

  
  

• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals and experience in Linux administration, configuration, optimization, and monitoring at scale.

  
  

• Passion for eliminating toil through automation.

  
  

• An independent self-starter, adept at optimizing processes, learning new technologies, and quickly solving problems.

  
  

• Broad understanding of networking concepts and implementation of Linux-based infrastructure solutions.

  
  

• Understand the fundamentals of application development and delivery.

  
  

• Proficiency in building observability into applications and infrastructure.

  
  

• Skilled in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

  
  

• Experience with configuration management tools.

  
  

• A strong inclination towards collaborative teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Preferred Education/Experience

• Proficient in Python or Go.

  
  

• Experience using and building HTTP APIs with an API Gateway.

  
  

• Kubernetes administration.

  
  

• Familiar with Prometheus, Grafana, and Fluentd.

  
  

• Comfortable with Ansible and Terraform.

  
  

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree.
